May 14, 2025, started bright and early with a day of discovery in Cape Town. We hired a personal driver to take us to must-see spots, while leaving room for those little surprises that make travel unforgettable. The drive itself was an adventure; we even spotted baboons crossing the highway, an unexpected thrill!
Eventually, we arrived at Boulders Beach near Simon’s Town, home to the famous African penguins. After strolling down a short, vendor-lined alley, we found ourselves surrounded by these captivating little creatures. They waddled along the sand, gathered by the shoreline, and even perched on the dunes. Standing about 24–28 inches tall and weighing 5–9 pounds, they’re often nicknamed Jackass Penguins for their donkey-like bray. Seeing them up close was simply delightful—we could have watched them for hours.
This excursion is one we’d recommend without hesitation. It reminded us that each experience opens the door to the next. With this adventure etched into our memories, we turned our eyes toward the Cape of Good Hope, eager for what awaited us there.
Stay tuned—the journey through Cape Town continues. ➡️
