HAPPY NEW YEAR

As we step into 2026, my heart is full. Looking back on 2025, I can’t help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude. This past year carried blessings we never could’ve scripted for ourselves—moments that stretched our faith, deepened our purpose, and connected us more profoundly to the story of who we are.

Walking Our Ancestral Ground in Zimbabwe

One of the greatest gifts of 2025 was standing—literally—on our ancestral soil in Zimbabwe. Denise and I walked the land of our fore parents, touched the earth they once cultivated, and met relatives we never imagined we’d encounter in this lifetime.

A dream we didn’t even dare speak aloud came to life, and God allowed us to live it.

Grief Alongside Gratitude

The year also carried its share of sorrow. We said goodbye to our brothers, Donald E. Driver and Gregory E. Brown. Their absence is deeply felt, and their memory remains close to our hearts. Yet even in grief, God’s faithfulness held us steady. He reminded us—over and over—that His presence never leaves us, and His promises never fail.

A Year of Global Exploration

From the African continent to the Americas, we moved through 2025 with purpose and intention. Our travels took us across:

  • South Africa

  • Zimbabwe

  • Botswana

  • Mexico

  • Belize

  • Costa Rica

  • Honduras

  • Chile

  • Argentina

  • Uruguay

  • Falkland Islands

  • …and more

Every destination brought new lessons, unforgettable encounters, and stories that reshaped how we see the world. As we continue our mission into 2026, our goal remains clear:

To slow travel the globe—capturing each destination through stories that inspire and images that move.

A Life-Changing Visit to Zimbabwean Village Schools

One of the most joyful and emotional moments of the year happened in a Zimbabwean village where we visited local schools. As our car approached, children ran toward us with wide smiles and excited waves—as if they had been waiting for that moment all day.

We spent time in classrooms, met teachers and principals, walked the school gardens children tended themselves, and experienced a community overflowing with pride and purpose.

Then came the shock of all shocks…

Every school—elementary, middle, and high school—was named after our ancestors: the Kanongovere family.

To say we were speechless is an understatement. Everywhere we turned, the Kanongovere name stood tall. We took pictures at every wall, building, and sign that carried our family name. It was a joy that reached deep into our bones.

A Legacy That Still Serves Today

We also visited a Catholic church built on land gifted by our Kanongovere ancestors generations ago—land that continues to bless the community through worship, education, and service.

Standing on that sacred ground, we witnessed firsthand the lasting legacy of our family. Schools and churches that have stood the test of time, still fulfilling the purpose they were created for.

The Great Zimbabwe: A Monument to Genius and Endurance

Our journey continued to Masvingo, where we stood before the breathtaking Great Zimbabwe ruins. Built between the 11th and 15th centuries, these massive mortarless granite walls remain a powerful testament to the brilliance and resilience of our ancestors.

We can’t wait to share our first impressions of this legendary site. Trust me… you’ll want to stay tuned.
