Living My Fairytale (Even Without the Glass Slippers)

While I am no Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White—not even Tiana from The Princess and the Frog—I can honestly say I’m living what feels like my very own fairytale. My king, the head of my home, and my prince charming came into my life… and since then, life has felt like a beautiful fairytale reality. So today, I simply say: Happy Valentine’s Day, 💗mi amor—te amo.

Our “Once Upon a Time” Didn’t Start in a Castle

Our story didn’t begin in the woods with seven dwarfs, in a village square, or in a tower guarded by magic. To the contrary, our once-upon-a-time story began in a vanpool—leaving Richmond, Virginia at 4 a.m., headed to the nation’s capital for work in Washington, D.C. And honestly, that feels even more special to me now.

Because real life isn’t magic the way fairytales are—real life is meaning. And meaning comes from effort, resilience, and choosing hope even when the ending isn’t guaranteed. In our story, love is unconditional, and our hope is rooted in Jesus Christ and in each other. We’ve been writing our love story from the very beginning, and I could not be happier than I am today, even without the chariot. And again, I say: Happy Valentine’s Day, 💋mi amor—te amo.

My King (Not the King of Kings 😊)

I have my king (not the King of Kings)—not even royalty, just my amazing husband 😉—who I love deeply and can always laugh with and connect with. My husband is my very best friend. He’s compassionate, kind, and loves traveling as much as I do. He lives life with me fully, one moment and one second at a time. He sees me and loves me for me—even with all my quirks, insecurities, levels of craziness, and all the classic questions like:

“Do I look fat?”
“Is the scale broken?”
“Or do these jeans make my butt look big?” 😅

Wayne reminds me that I am imperfectly perfect just as I am. And he often says, “I can’t wait for the day to come when you accept yourself for who you are.”
What can I say?
Me too. 😄

A Valentine’s Day Blessing for My Mi Amor 💙

Today, I send my mi amor all the love and blessings a wife can send her husband—because he is truly the greatest husband any woman could hope for. I’m blessed and beyond elated that he is mine. A true God-fearing, confident, secure-in-his-own-skin kind of man. A man who understands what marriage means when two become one.

I could not ask for a better husband, best friend, traveling partner, or Valentine. No matter the language, I will always love you, as we continue our real-life journey. And the one thing I know to be true—both in fairytales and in real life—is this: dreams can come true. My dream came true the day I met Y😘U, mi amor.

Happy Valentine’s Day, 💖te amo.
