And now, my friends, we have come to the end of our 11-day Classic Panama Canal Passage from Fort Lauderdale to Fuerte Amador—and what a journey it has been.

One thing is certain: we had an amazing time. From the very beginning, this cruise exceeded our expectations—not only because of the destinations, but because of the people we met along the way, both on and off the ship.

For Wayne and me, this marked our first time cruising with friends, and let’s just say—it won’t be our last. In fact, we already have many more sailings in store!

🌎 The Joy of the Journey

This voyage gave us everything we love about travel:

  • Immersive port experiences

  • Delicious and thoughtfully prepared cuisine

  • Meaningful connections with fellow travelers

  • And of course… the unforgettable moment of cruising through the Panama Canal

There is something truly special about witnessing such an engineering marvel up close. It’s one of those experiences that stays with you long after the journey ends.

🎶 Entertainment That Stood Out

The onboard entertainment was excellent across the board, but a few performers truly stood out. Patricia, the Viking Director, was nothing short of extraordinary. Her versatility—from singing to playing the keyboard and violin—was captivating. She brought such energy and talent to every performance that we can only hope you get to experience her for yourself one day.

Another highlight was the guitarist, who delivered consistently great performances wherever he played on the ship.

And if you’re a fan of The Beatles or ABBA, you’ll enjoy Viking’s rotating group of singers who perform their classics. While it’s a great show the first time, don’t feel pressured to attend every repeat—there’s always something else worth exploring onboard.

🍰 Simple Moments, Lasting Memories

One of our favorite daily traditions? Afternoon tea.

There’s just something magical about enjoying tea, pastries, great conversation, and ocean views—often accompanied by soft live music in the background. It became one of those moments we truly looked forward to each day.

We’ll also deeply miss Vicky, our waiter at The Restaurant, who made sure we had our apple strudel every morning. His service was impeccable—attentive, warm, and consistent.

And I must give a special shoutout to my hairdresser from Mauritius—he gave me one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had. Ladies, you know… when you find someone that good, you don’t want to let them go! If only I could bring him home with me.

🏡 Coming Home to Panama

As we approached our final port at Fuerte Amador, we felt that familiar mix of gratitude and a little sadness that comes at the end of a great trip.

But here’s the beauty of it—Panama is now our second home.

Instead of long transfers or complicated logistics, all we had to do was hop in an Uber and head home. It was quick, seamless, and completely stress-free.

Next time, we may flip the experience and depart from Panama City instead—just to see how it feels from the other side.

And don’t worry—we’re just getting started.

I hope you’re not cruised out yet, because our next adventure is already underway:

➡️ A Viking Holiday Cruise through South America & the Chilean Fjords, beginning in Valparaíso (near Santiago). But first, we’re making a special birthday celebration stop in Panama City.

Stay tuned… the journey continues.
