Hands are lifted all across this placeācoming from every corner of the worldābut especially today. Who could have imagined that so many would feel called to gather at this very moment, in this very place? Some have come with grateful hearts, ready to give honor and praise. Others arrive seeking repentance and forgiveness. And still, others have come ready to surrender it allāto give their life⦠yes, their Life.
But the question remains: Who is worthy of oneās life?
āļø The One Who Gave Everything
For the believer, the answer is clear. It is the One who laid down His life, was crucified on the cross, bore our sins, and reconciled us back to our eternal Father. In a world that can often feel dark, dismal, and uncertain, we find ourselves searching for somethingāanythingāthat offers joy, hope, contentment, and peace.
So often, we look to people, places, or things to fill that void. But when those failāas they inevitably doāwe are left facing the same emptiness. We try to overcome lifeās trials and tribulations in our own strength. Yet, we are reminded in James 1:2:
āConsider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kindsā¦ā
Because even in the struggle, something greater is being built within usāperseverance.
šæ A Joy the World Cannot Take Away
Perseverance is not always easy. But we do not have to live in despair or misery. There is One who paid the ultimate price so that we might live with a joy beyond understandingāa joy that cannot be taken away.
It reminds me of my grandfather, Ezell H. Jackson, who would sing:
š¶ āThis joy I have, the world didnāt give it to me⦠and the world canāt take it away.ā
That is the kind of joy found only in the One.
š Who Is This ONE?
This ONE is known by many names:
Messiah. Lamb of God. Savior. King of Kings. Lord of Lords. Immanuel. Alpha and Omega. Author and Finisher of our Faith. Bread of Life. Prince of Peace. Wonderful Counselor. The Truth. The Light of the World. The Good Shepherd. The Way. The Chief Cornerstone.
And above allā¦
š The Name above every nameāJesus Christ, the Son of God.
š Only Jesus Is Worthy
YesāJesus Christ is worthy. As the song says, āThere is no one worthy; only Jesus is worthy.ā
Jesus came so that we may have lifeāand have it more abundantly (John 10:10). Even for those who do not yet believe, He has never stopped believing in us. He will leave the 99 to come after the one (Matthew 18:12ā14). He meets us right where we are.
He is the Redeemerāand redemption is available to anyone willing to repent, believe, and follow. His love, grace, and mercy are renewed daily, always available to those who choose Him.
š On This Easter Sunday⦠Three Questions
As we reflect, consider these:
Will you choose to believe?
āFor God so loved the worldā¦ā (John 3:16)Will you make Jesus Christ Lord of your life?
āIf you confess with your mouthā¦ā (Romans 10:9)What do you have to lose?
When everything else failsāor is failingāwhy not give it to the ONE who never fails?
āŖ A Place to Begin or Begin Again
If you are searching for a church home, for understanding, for connection, or for renewal, prayerfully consider a church near you that welcomes all people from every nation with open arms š.
Whether you are:
Seeking to learn more about Jesus
Ready to give your life to Him
Reconnecting with your faith
Or simply in need of a fresh touch
You are welcome.
⨠He Is Risen
In closing, we pray you experience an extraordinarily blessed Resurrection Sunday and a joyful Easter šæāØ.
As it is written in Matthew 28:6:
āHe is not here; for He is risen, as He said.ā
Come and see.
