Where's the Beef?

Remember the famous commercial? We finally answered the question in Argentina! Discover why Mendoza's steaks, wine, and walkable streets made this one of our favorite destinations in South America.

Just when we thought we had experienced some of the best steaks in South America, we arrived in Mendoza, Argentina... and made a beeline for a steakhouse with even more incredible options. Remember the famous 1984 commercial asking, "Where's the beef?"

Well... our answer was simple:

"Here IS the beef!" 😂🥩

The steaks were everything we hoped for—tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. We paired them with grilled vegetables that were just as good. Before long, we discovered one of Mendoza's best-kept secrets: amazing food at amazingly affordable prices.

The steaks were so reasonably priced that we could order as many as we wanted without feeling guilty. (Not that we always exercised restraint! )

🍷 A Toast to Mendoza

Then there was the wine...

Restaurant servers would often smile and suggest, "Why order a glass when you can enjoy the whole bottle?" Honestly... they made a very convincing argument! And yes, on more than one occasion, we happily accepted their recommendation. After all, when you're visiting one of the world's premier wine regions, it almost feels like a requirement.

🚶 A City Made for Walking

One of the things we loved most about Mendoza—besides staying at the beautiful Park Hyatt Mendoza—was how incredibly walkable the city was.

Restaurants...
Shops...
Grocery stores...
Pharmacies...
Banks...

Everything seemed to be just a short stroll away. Even better, the city's beautiful central park sat directly across the street from our hotel. After many of our meals, we'd enjoy a relaxing walk through the park, which quickly became one of our favorite daily routines.

🚌 Tourist Trap? Maybe... But We Found Better!

Ironically, the Hop-On Hop-Off bus also stopped directly across the street from our hotel. Believe it or not, we never boarded it. Not because we weren't interested...

We simply found what we thought were even better tourist traps! 😂 Instead, we booked experiences that included:

🍇 A private driver

🍷 Three unforgettable wine and food pairings

🏔️ Some of the most breathtaking scenery we've ever seen—views that are permanently etched into our memories.

🎄 Christmas in Wine Country

Adding to the charm, the entire city was beautifully decorated for Christmas, including the Park Hyatt Mendoza. The holiday lights, festive decorations, and warm atmosphere made everything feel magical. The hotel staff treated us like family—friendly, gracious, and always eager to help.

Although we stayed for ten wonderful days, when checkout day arrived, neither of us was ready to leave. Mendoza had completely won us over.
